KARACHI: Citizens fed up with street crime caught two robbers who injured a citizen and burned them alive, police detained 10 citizens for killing the robbers.
According to police sources, two alleged robbers were burnt alive at Makkah Hotel near Four K Chowrangi in Khwaja Ajmer Nagri police station.
According to the police officials, the robbers were taking away the mobile phone from a citizen named Jibran, when the citizen resisted, they hit him on the head with the butt of a pistol and injured him. Residents gathered on hearing the citizen's voice and caught the robbers.
According to police officials, a stolen motorcycle, three mobile phones and a TT pistol were recovered from the possession of the robbers, while the criminal records of the deceased have also been revealed.
There, the police took 10 people into custody and transferred them to the police station on the charge of burning the robbers alive. According to the sources, legal action will be taken against the detained citizens.
According to police officials, the deceased have been identified as Muhammad Imran and Nader Hussain. Several cases have been registered against Nader Hussain in District Korangi, Malir and Central, while a case has been registered against Imran in District West. On the other hand, according to the police, 114 incidents of street crime were reported in Karachi during the last 24 hours, including 48 incidents of stealing mobile phones and cash, 6 incidents of car theft, and 60 incidents of motorcycle theft and theft.
According to Additional IG Karachi, there were five encounters between the police and criminals in 24 hours, in which 7 criminals were injured and 14 accused were arrested red-handed.
