Grange Island: A woman from the South American country of Chile has become the first person to swim in the sea of Antarctica by swimming for a distance of two and a half kilometers in the icy sea of Antarctica.
Barbara Hernandez, 37, swam for 45 minutes and 50 seconds at Chili Bay in Grange Island in a simple swimsuit in temperatures of 2.2 degrees Celsius.
Before this feat, Barbara Hernandez had also held the Guinness World Record for the fastest one-mile swim in the ocean.
Barbara said in a press release that the purpose of her swim was to spread awareness about the safety of Antarctic seas.
"I am very happy that everything went well," he said. Swimming in Antarctica had been a dream of mine for years and part of a commitment to swim all seven oceans of the world.
