Lahore: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) detained senior journalist and anchor person Imran Riaz Khan and handed him over to the cyber crime wing.

According to details, FIA officials arrested Imran Riaz when he was going to United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Lahore on Emirates Airline flight 35 last night.

In this regard, FIA sources said that the orders to arrest Imran Riaz and offload him were received from the FIA ​​headquarters.

According to sources, FIA has handed over Imran Riaz to FIA Cyber ​​Crime after detaining him from the airport and now a case is being registered against him in Cyber ​​Crime Wing.

Sources said that FIA has called a heavy contingent of police outside the office of FIA cyber crime wing, while after registering the FIR against Imran Riaz, preparations have also started to present him in the local court.

Sources said that inquiries are also being made about the already registered case against Imran Riaz.

According to lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq, the anchor person has been taken into custody by the agency's Lahore office. The anchor person's official Twitter account has also confirmed the development.

A tweet posted by Imran Riaz's social media team said that 'Imran Riaz Khan was arrested by FIA and taken to an unknown location, the airport staff misinformed the public about the incident and he was ( taken into custody) through the back door.

The official Twitter account of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also shared a video purportedly showing the journalist at the FIA ​​office.

In July 2022, Imran Riaz was arrested from Islamabad Toll Plaza. He is facing several lawsuits that Anchor Press claimed were being targeted for his refusal to "stop telling the truth."

According to reports, he was arrested in a case registered at Attock police station and taken to the same district. According to the FIR, the citizen said that he saw a video on social media in which Imran Riaz tried to damage the reputation of state institutions.
