Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi has announced that Haroon Rasheed will be the new chief selector of the national team.

While giving a press conference in Lahore, Najam Sethi said that according to the constitution, the appointment of the chief selector and captain is my authority, the other members of the selection committee will be announced after consultation.

Nahu said that the meeting of the Asian Cricket Council will be held in Bahrain on February 4, in which they will present their position, while the series against Afghanistan is not yet possible.

Najam Sethi said that everyone was consulted to make Shan Masood the vice-captain and there was no pressure to feed the vice-captain in the playing XI. Babar Azam is our best cricketer and all the news regarding his captaincy is baseless.

In response to a question, he said that talks with Mickey Arthur are going on and it is hoped that Mickey Arthur will join the team soon.

Najam Sethi said that fast bowler Mohammad Amir can join the team if he wants to take back his retirement. He said that it is a pleasure for our players to be included in the ICC Team of the Year.
